Saturday May 14 Celebrate International Migratory Bird Day with a morning bird walk at the Belding Wildlife Management Area. Learn to identify birds by sight and by song. Saturday May 28 Enjoy a spring exercise hike on the Hockanum River Linear Trail. See the Vernon and Ellington marshes. Easy walk, about 2 ½ hours, 4 ½ miles. Saturday June 4 Trails Day Celebrate the addition of the Talcottville Gorge to the Vernon open space inventory. Learn why the Gorge is rated as the top open space parcel. Enjoy a short walk on the popular Rail Trail, then along the Tankerhoosen River through the Gorge for a total distance of 2.6 miles/2 hours. June 18, 2011 There will be a dedication of the new one mile stone dust Walking Trail at Noon. A ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at the Dart Hill South parking lot followed by a tour of the new facility. Light refreshments will be served. (Don Bellingham) 860-872-6061.
