2008 January January 29, 2008 - Recycling Committee has first meeting. This committee will study the practicality of placing permanent recycling bins for plastic and glass on the Vernon trail system.
February February 12, 2008 - Recycling Committee meeting.
February 21 - March 6, 2008 - Installed informational Pick Up after your Pet signs on Hockanum Blvd to Watson Rd section of Dart Hill South Trail.
February 27, 2008 - Recycling Committee meeting. Final meeting. Decided to proceed with recycling project.
April April 9, 2008 - Spring Kickoff Meeting. Featured Speaker: George Arthur will present "A History of the Vernon Trail System". In addition, we'll discuss the outlook for 2008 and hold an open forum. Public is welcome. Refreshments will be served. Teen Center, located at 375 Hartford Turnpike (Rt 30). 7 PM
April 16 - April 30, 2008 - Display Pick Up After Your Pet signs at Valley Falls
April 26, 2008 - Earth Day clean up on trail system in Vernon. Meet at Parks and Rec Dept parking lot at Henry Park. Breakfast items will be served at 8:30 AM to 9:00 AM. We will be done by noon.
May May 1 - May 14, 2008 - Display Pick Up After Your Pet signs at Dart Hill South
May 7, 2008 - Disassemble a man-made bridge on the Hockanum River that is collecting trash and branches. It would eventually cause flooding.
May 14- May 28, 2008 - Display Pick Up After Your Pet signs at Church St.
June June 21, 2008 - Graffiti paint out at tunnel under Route 84 Bridge, 9 AM. Part at Sacred Heart Church Commuter Parking Lot on Route 30. Breakfast items served at 8:45 AM. We will be done by noon.
July July 15, 2008 - Install five car parking area at Rau St.
July 31- August 1, 2008 - Complete a bridge in Belding Properties, 9 AM. Park at Bread and Milk Rd. Breakfast and lunch items will be provided. We will be done by 3 PM. August 1, if necessary.
August August 16, 2008 - Repair Braille Trail and reestablish drainage ditches, 9 AM. Breakfast items served at 8:45 AM. We will be done by noon.
September September 20, 2008 - Clearing invasive species and brush from around the Braille Trail, 9 AM. Breakfast items served at 8:45 AM. We will be done by noon.
October October 4, 2008 - Complete invasive species and brush clearing project. at the approximate 2 acre site around the Braille Trail, 9 AM. Breakfast items served at 8:45 AM. We will be done by noon.
